If you do not find the answer to your question, please contact us by email or give us a call at 250.564.4115. Please note that we do need to verify that you are a subscriber to the support service. It would help us if you tell us the serial number of your program license. It would also be helpful, if you could call when you are sitting at a PC from which you have access to the program (and data set with which you are experiencing the problem).

General Questions

Can I download updates from the internet?
Yes, subscribers to the maintenance service will be notified by email of the location where an update is available for download. Typically there is one update a year to the Cruise Compilation program and five updates to the Appraisal program.

I need to re-install my program. Can I do the installation from the last update disk?
Yes, normally you only need the last installation (or update) file sent to you. The upgrades include all files required to run the program, and include all previous changes to the program.

Appraisal Program Questions

Every time I start the program I get an error message ios=2
The error message usually comes up because one of the program files is missing. To fix the problem, start the program, click on the Files menu and select Modify Defaults. Fill in the data on that page and click on OK.

The program keeps adjusting the volumes on the tree-to-truck page
The sum of total volumes by harvesting method has to be equal to the sum of the volumes entered in the species information table. If the sums are not the same, the program will adjust the harvest method volumes pro-rata to equal the species information table volumes. This usually happens when a Specified Operation is involved.
Specified operation costs can be either a cost additive (for example: allow an extra $0.25/m3 for additional insect control), or can be the entire tree-to-truck cost for the harvesting method (for example: a cost allowance of $30/m3 for windfall clean-up). In the first case, the Cost estimate is total logging method cost box should not be checked, and the volume will not be included in the total volume check. In the second case, the box should be checked, and the volume will be included in the volume check.

I just installed the last update, but my stumpage rate does not change
The update only adds the current quarter's appraisal parameters to the list of available parameters. To make sure the program uses the parameters for the current quarter, you need to change the Stumpage rate effective date on screen 2a to the current quarter. Please note that the Cutting permit effective date should not be changed unless you are checking the rate on the permit's anniversary date.

The haul cost does not change, even though I changed some of the road section speeds
That usually happens if you filled in the cycle time. If you enter a cycle time, the program will use the time entered. If you leave the cycle time at 0, the program will calculate the cycle time from the road section information entered on screens 5a and 5b.

The program does not show the cost allowances on the first page of the report
If the first page of the report only shows the total Logging Cost, but not the breakdown of the logging cost phases, the Quarterly Update box on the Run Parameter screen has been checked. If the Quarterly Update box is checked, the program will bypass all logging and silviculture cost calculations and will use the costs you entered on the Run Parameter screen. If you are really checking a quarterly update notice, leave the box checked, and make sure you have entered the untrended logging and silviculture cost from the original appraisal. If the permit has reached its anniversary date (or is fully re-appraised for some other reason), clear the box and rerun the calculations.

Cruise Compilation Program Questions

I want to move plots to a different stratum, but I can not move them out of the current stratum.
Plots can not be moved out of the stratum they are currently in. They can only be moved into a different stratum. To move a plot, click on the Plot Selection tap. From the drop-down menus select the block and stratum you want to move the plots into. The right-hand window will show all the plots that are currently assigned to that block/stratum, while the left-hand window shows the plots that are assigned to different blocks/stratums. To move a plot to a new block/stratum, select it in the left window and move it to the right window. It is not possible to move a plot from the right to the left window.
